Educational Geovisual Analytics and InfoViz

This Educational Web site is created to help researchers and students to get a better knowledge, understanding and experience into information visualization and geovisual analytics. The web site is built around a Demonstrator http://mitweb.itn.liu.se/GAV/dashboard/ developed in HTML5 and JavaScript including support for also tablets and smartphones. The Demonstrator is based on the principle of modularity allowing users to select methods from a wide range of geo- and information visualization techniques (see figure below) and combine them in any way they want in this dashboard application. Use the top menu "Toggle story"to open the Storytelling panel: story

The Demonstrator is based on the principle of modularity allowing users to select methods from a wide range of geo- and information visualization techniques (see figure below) implemented in HTML5/JavaScript. This Demonstrator allows you to combine them in any way they want in the dashboard application.

Insight is normally gained through interaction. To increase the performance of visual exploration and analysis processes, visualizations are in this Demonstrator enhanced with a set of interaction techniques and interactive features. For example, the map component is enhanced with selection, tooltips, details-on-demand, focus-and-context, pan, zoom, animation, focusing (i.e. bringing selected items/regions to the centre of the view). A drill down technique is applied to treemaps visualization. Focus-and-context and fisheye lens techniques are applied to bar charts and time graphs, and so on. Other interactive features supported in this HTML components include visual inquiry, conditioned filter mechanisms, and methods supporting multiple coordinated linked views. Data analysis algorithms, connects the components to each other, and supports data providers that can load data from various sources.
